Backyard games is an enrichment that seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher Jack Dyogi handles. In backyard games, students play different sports, but if it’s a rainy day, they stay inside room 10, Dyogi’s room. This enrichment involves students playing different sports, such as basketball, corn hole ladder, toss-spike ball, and ring toss.
“I thought it would be fun and better to do outdoor activities instead of staying in all day,” Dyogi said. “My goal is for the students to have fun and to teach them new sports.”
Afterward, he talked about a typical day in this enrichment, “I give out different types of equipment, and the kids have fun playing. But if it’s raining, we would watch movies inside my classroom.”
Three students were asked what enrichment they would make and if they could see themselves staying in this enrichment class the entire year.
When asked what enrichment class she could add, Celena Hill said, “I would add a gymnastics class because I love doing it and it’s fun.”
Next, I asked if she sees herself in this enrichment for the entire year. “I don’t see myself in this enrichment for the whole year. I would like to join Ms. McMahon’s spirit squad because it fits my interests more.”
“I would like to add a lego enrichment because you could express your ideas and creativity by building with the legos,” Elicia Tiotuico said.
“Yes, I do see myself staying in this enrichment, because so far I enjoy playing sports at the end of the day with my friends. I also get to end the school day in a good mood,” she said.
Jeremiah Sciancaelepore shared what type of enrichment class he would add, “I would add a video game enrichment class, so people can enjoy playing the games that are their interests.”
Then he shared if he could see himself staying in this enrichment class or not. “I don’t see myself staying in this class for the entire year because I want to experience other enrichment classes as well.”
This sums up what backyard games is and how the people in that enrichment feel about it. Would you like to join this enrichment?
