Have you ever had strong judgment towards a movie that you believe must be shared with others? If so, there is an amazing enrichment just for you. This is the movie review enrichment. Many students were interested in sharing their thoughts and opinions on certain movies, a key element of movie reviews. There is more to movie reviewing than we know, movie reviewing is a summary of a film that serves the purpose of determining whether or not others should watch it.
Maria Borres was interviewed by the FRS Times staff about the enrichment.
Do you enjoy teaching this enrichment class?
Yeah, I enjoy it because it’s something that I like doing, and the students in there, it looks like they’re enjoying it too.
Are enrichments necessary?
Yes, because all work and no play. Or, I mean, if we give all academics and there’s no time for something that students really like, it could cause, let’s say burnout.
Tell me what a typical day in the enrichment is like.
So, there are different kinds. When we’re about to start a movie, most likely we’ve already decided what to watch. They just see it, they check attendance, and then we start writing it. Because I don’t like wasting the minute since, you know, movies last. Right now, it’s like about two hours, and we only have less than 30 minutes in class. So, I make sure that we don’t waste any time. if because we do snacks maybe once a month. I give them snacks once a month. We distribute the snacks when I’m checking attendance. The leaders do the distribution, and then we watch the movie while they make it. They’re allowed to eat snacks in class, either their own or something like that.
At the end of the movie, we discuss, like, I give them questions. and then we discuss and the first I think first couple of movies we did not actually write anything we were just like talking about it but the last movie we watched I had them write something about it because the ultimate goal is like to be able to write one like movie review that we can publish online.
What is your goal for the class?
Oh yeah I answered it like that we can like our goal is so that we can like publish a review in IMDB of the movie that we watched. So we are going to read the movie and then publish it.
The FRS Times also interviewed Dasha Bautista and Julia Pangilinan.
Why did you choose this elective?
DB: I chose this elective because it looked easy and I wanted to watch movies.
JP: Because I like movies.
Do you like enrichment class? Why or why not?
DB: I like my enrichment because I like hanging with my friends and watching the movies.
JP: Yes, but it’s kinda boring sometimes but I enjoy watching the movies.
What new things have you learned in this enrichment?
DB: What I have learned is how to be quiet and respectful.
JP: I learned how to actually review movies.
Do you see yourself staying in this enrichment for the entire year? Yes or no, why or why not?
DB: Yes, I do see myself staying in this enrichment because my friends are here and I’m one of the leaders.
JP: I don’t because I feel like I would get bored of it and I wanna try something new
Is there anything you dislike about this enrichment?
DB: No, not at the moment.
JP: It gets boring because the only thing we do is watch movies which is okay but we barely do anything else and none of my friends are there.
Movie review enrichment is an enjoyable class with many people, giving opportunity to those who participate in it. There are so many movies and their genre making there even more options including action, mystery, horror, comedy, and many more! So my question is, would you ever join this class?
