The Jefferson Elementary School District (JESD) Governing Board unanimously voted to approve a tentative contract for teachers that includes a 3% raise on Tuesday.
Members of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) #3267 separately voted to ratify the contract. The San Mateo County Office of Education also approved the agreement.
Board Vice President Andrea Jordan spoke during board member comments about how she was proud of how the negotiation process played out.
“I just wanted to, number one, also echo Superintendent Mikulik’s statements. I know a lot of people were working on this, and I just want to say thank you for your patience for us to get through that. I also want to say thank you to both classified and certificated staff for bearing with us, coming to the meeting, speaking their truth. I think at the end of the day we all want to do what’s best for you all and for our students and so I’m glad we were able to come to this tentative agreement,” she said.
Superintendent Sandy Mikulik expressed that the negotiations were a collaborative effort.
“We are pleased to have reached this agreement, which reflects the district’s commitment to supporting our dedicated educators and ensuring the continued success of our students,” Mikulik said. “The negotiations were a collaborative effort, and we appreciate the constructive dialogue that took place between the district and AFT Local #3267. This agreement represents a shared commitment to the well-being of our staff and the quality of education we provide to our students. We are excited about the positive impact this will have on the learning environment in our schools.”
The FRS Times contacted AFT #3267 president Adam Hawkins for comment. He has not responded.
