The Jefferson Elementary School District (JESD) teacher’s union and the school district have reached a tentative contract agreement that will feature a 3% salary increase for teachers.
The three-year agreement between the American Federation of Teachers #3267 and the school district, which was reached after months of negotiations, will include a 3% raise and an increase in the master’s degree stipends.
The agreement will also include changes to agreements on class size, teacher transfers and reassignments, stipends for after-school and weekend work, hours of employment, the work day, and personnel files.
The district also reached an agreement with the California School Employees Association #233, which represents classified staff (janitorial, office staff, etc.). The tentative deal includes a 2% raise and increases to the longevity scale.
The JESD Governing Board and the San Mateo County Office of Education still have to ratify the contract for it to be finalized. The governing board is set to vote on the contract deal in the February 12 meeting.
Correction: The governing board meeting where the contract will be voted on was incorrectly dated as February 7. It has since been corrected to February 12.
