Phase one of the Fernando Rivera Intermediate School (FRS) new office and teacher workroom construction has been completed. The first phase includes relocating the main and attendance offices, nurse room, and multiple offices to the former location of rooms 16 and 17.
According to Josie Peterson, the Jefferson Elementary School District (JESD) Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, the new office contract with Coulter Construction Inc. is estimated to cost $1.713 million.
“I love the new office! It has positive vibes and makes work more enjoyable,” said school administrative assistant Lenny Jap.
“[The best thing is] probably where it is in the school. The new office is removed from the heart of the school so there is easier access to get to where we need to go, but the change is not that bad!” said Melissa Mizel, the principal.
The second phase, which includes an expansion of the teacher workroom into the old office, has already begun construction.
